A perfect encapsulation of our season.

The most aggravating thing about this is that on just about every dead ball play a Bears defender will pick up the ball, on the one play the whole season the ball happened to be a live ball, everyone is standing around jerking each other off.

Haven't been watching the season but it looks like a dead ball. The QB was making a throwing motion, doesn't that mean incomplete not fumble?

I thought that too at first from where the GIF started off, but then I realized that it wasn't a pass, it was a backwards/lateral pass which has really weird rules.

On the zoomed in replay of Aaron Rodgers' hand, the ball is fumbled before he starts his throwing motion, but his hand continues on with the motion propelling the ball forward, so essentially he fumbled forward which means it's a live ball, ergo Green Bay scored a touchdown on the play.

yeah they need to put the goalpost on a sideways moving conveyor belt or something to make them harder cause watching close games be decided by which team has the ball last to park at the 35 and take a knee until there's 2 seconds left to shoot a 99.3% field goal to win the game is kind of lame IMO it would make the game a lot more interesting if fieldgoals were harder

sort of agreed cruel, it's a matter of the other team's D not being able to stop them tho. if the defense were better, it wouldn't be a problem. like how the saints had 4 minutes left and they simply ran up the gut of the philly D over and over

perhaps to make the FG harder they should let the other team use trampolines to jump up and block the kick lol

the eagles lost because they took the lead too fast with a TD. that sucks and is a shitty way to lose

its all about time management, and the decisions you make earlier in the game.. that's a big part of football for better or worse. I think changing that would change football. I come from a soccer background, so its hard for me to say that. I mean, ya time management comes into play in soccer with "faking" injuries or walking to a ball so the throw in takes longer, but it's all part of the game IMO.

i agree with you and i think we're FINALLY (im talking last 2-4 years) starting to see teams make smarter decisions about positioning themselves for the endgame earlier than 6 minutes before the end of the 4th quarter (other than Bill Belichick and Boston franchises in other sports which have been notoriously mathematically aware, Oakland A's and Stan Van Gundy's orlanda magic come to mind also).

I don't see how its taken fucking DECADES for major sports teams to learn how to make smart decisions and acknowledge the same patterns of how games play out. I mean chess players must have just puked themselves watching football from the 60s through the 90s cause chess players have an idea of how games work. I mean a football team that is otherwise .500 could have picked up an extra 3 wins a season in the past just by hiring a clever Russian quake player with ten or twenty thousand duels under his belt to make the simple binary decisions (aggressive/conservative) in all situations. I would bet high level MOBA or starcraft players would be able to provide the same benefit. There are still tons of mistakes made all the time by pro teams but the margins have gotten slimmer as the results have overwhelmingly favored analytical teams across all sports and even retarded organizations like the Detroit Tigers and the Dallas Cowboys have started using charts prepared by someone with a clue to prevent old coaches from making egregiously bad decisions throughout games.

Basketball and hockey i THINK have been more well-managed (talking specifically time management and strategic decisions not strictly related to personnel) for more years because the nature of the games makes the decisions easier and its easier to be sure when you made a dumbass move which is then corrected. I've only been a fan of hockey for about 8 years and basketball for like 5, so i havent seen tons of games from different years like i have with football and baseball which ive followed for 20+ now, but in NHL/NBA mostly teams play the situations correctly. It's possible though that I just know a little less about these sports and don't spot what seems to be glaring mistakes which come with a more nuanced understanding of a game.

Football and baseball have a lot more fog about how correct a decision was, and especially football with how few games there are compared to the other major sports, doesn't have the sheer brute force thrown at it towards solving how to react to each subsequent event in the game.

lol just kidding

Reminded in a big way why I'm not a fan of the Mannings. They choke in high pressure situations. Thought Peyton somehow manages to shake it off this season. Guess he got accustomed to a defensive/offensive line not getting curbstomped.

ur telling me you'd take cutler over dalton? i'm not the one on crack then.

they've had similar numbers in their career, and dalton is younger, even if he's ginger.

cutler, at 30, is not going to get any better.

dalton, at 26, still has time to get a little better, and he's been improving every year (with exception to INTs this yr)

Tony Romo prob fucks more chicks than any other QB in the NFL. Probably.

Dalton has shit accuracy, like complete shit. Dude is not a winner. Cutler's accuracy isn't scary good, or anything, but his a more gritty player, more of a leader, in my opinion, than Dalton. I'd take Cutler over Dalton every single day of the week. Dalton is a loser.
