Thus far I haven't really done anything interesting (to me). I did a triathlon, but...meh, whatever. Been there, done that, y'know?

Lining up a 2018 return (August I think) to the US, going to visit a few cities and decide amongst them after I get a feel for each.

Seattle, Portland, Denver, Austin - in that order

Nice. Austin is definitely high on my list. For cost of living and job market alone, it's the perfect situation for me.

Recovered from total rupture of Achilles Tendon. Bought a house on 2 acres. Got a puppy. The puppy is my last line of defense before marriage and impregnation of my lady :x Hope you all are well.

qs: how'd the rupture happen/start? My right tendon is getting very tight regardless of how much I stretch anytime I exercise.....just curious. Glad you've recovered! Congrats on the house and puppy!

What're you doing now, Vess? Didn't know you were in D.C. What's your profession?

Running is an archaic and dated form of exercise, get into yoga and cycling or swimming and reap same cardiovascular benefit + added strength + say goodbye to impact on your poor joints and tendons. Don't you also fight plantar fasciitis? It's time to make a change Brendon I care about ya

My change was to do triathlons so that I'm doing cross-training of my muscles...so although I don't do a LOT of swimming, and need to do MORE biking, it's definitely in there! I know that I need to do yoga but haven't really gotten into that. TBH I think that would be the most beneficial.

...yup, also fight plantar fasciitis. Good memory. <3

Are you a man prostitute? What the hell types of job would you want in those cities? I've been to Austin and it is full of queers and weirdos. The others I would rather kill myself than visit, much less live in.

Cruel and Realm...you two continue to disgust me so so many years later. I am mad for you at how you turned out, though I am sure you think you are fine.
You are not men.
Cruel your father and Realm your fathers are disappointed in you, of that I am sure.

I ruptured it playing indoor soccer. Doc said there was nothing I could have done really to prevent it. I warmed up for 30 min before the game and stretched like I always do. Just too much force at the wrong angle at the wrong time.

The way the doc explained it to me is that there are 2 major things you can do to help prevent Achilles ruptures.
1.) Stretch CORRECTLY and warm up. Leaning into your hamstring and calf a few times and calling it good is worse than not stretching at all. Everything is connected, so make sure stretch all leg muscles (2 on the calf), and hold for at least 20-30 seconds each. And as far as warming up goes.. if I'm not sweating a bit before my workout, I didn't warm up enough.
2.) Don't be a "weekend warrior" it's important to stay fit consistently when you are involved in high-impact sports like running, soccer, b-ball, volleyball etc. Also, like Cruel touched on, variety is key. throw in some yoga/calisthenics/swimming/biking. Muscle confusion goes a long way and can really round out your fitness.

I've been dealing with tendonitis and some PF issues during my recovery, and I highly recommend the Graston technique. You get used to the pain and it's easy to do yourself at home with a butter knife, and it helps break up scar tissue and smooth out muscles and tendons. If you have Health Insurance, just ask for a PT script and they can hook you up. Also for PF and arch soreness; roll your foot back and forth on a cold beer bottle(or frozen water bottle)for a few minutes every night, while drinking a cold beer obviously.

Never heard of Graston technique. Odd and interesting at the same time. Thanks for the other info too!

For fasciitis I use a tennis ball as needed and then move to a golf ball to finish it up (similar effect to the GT I'd imagine, just without a pointy surface).

Good luck on healing quickly!

Finally got the pic... figured I'd follow up.

Realm, still in the USAF as a network admin. White House Comms is a joint special duty for all military branches. 4 years for Air Force.

Forgive the quality, my dad took a pic of the pic with his phone. I had them mail it there.
